  • Verbalize disease process and actions to take to manage diabetes
  • Recognize signs/symptoms of complications and actions to take to manage complications
  • Manage insulin injection safely; or take oral medication correctly
  • Adhere to dietary prescription
  • Demonstrate ability to monitor blood glucose and take appropriate action in response to results
  • Practice daily foot care/skin integrity intact
  • Prevent, recognize and respond to hypoglycemia
  • Demonstrate blood glucose within target range
  • Identify when to contact MD
