Susan Larman, BSN, MBA
Chief Executive Officer – Visiting Nurses Home Care, VNA of Albany, VNA Foundation
Sue is responsible for partnering with the Board of Directors in setting and executing the strategic direction and goals of VNA of Albany and its affiliates including Visiting Nurses Home Care. She has been with the organizations since October of 2010, and brings 30 years of extensive home care and executive leadership experience, including CEO of VNA of Vermont and New Hampshire, and Vice President of Home and Community based Services at Elliot Health System. Beginning her home care career as a home care nurse, she has an appreciation and firsthand knowledge of the patient population, needs, and challenges.
In 2013, Sue spearheaded VNA of Albany’s service expansion from the three counties of Albany, Saratoga, and Rensselaer to include eight additional counties in the greater Capital Region: Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington; as well as the implementation of a state-of-the-art clinical information system for VNA and Visiting Nurses Home Care.
Sue holds a BSN and Masters of Business Administration, both from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has served on numerous community boards throughout her career, currently serving as Chair of the Board of the Home Care Association of New York State.
Iyabode (Yabo) Alfred, RN, MSN, Ph.D
Vice President/Chief Clinical Officer – VNA of Albany
Yabo joined VNA of Albany in August of 2018. She is responsible for the delivery of quality clinical care for all nursing, rehabilitation, social work, and home health aide services. Yabo develops innovative clinical models and programs to promote excellence in clinical practice, optimal patient outcomes, and successful positioning for new and innovative reimbursement models.
Yabo has worked in home care for over twenty years.
For sixteen of those years, she served in different leadership capacities with the Visiting Nurse Service of NY (VNSNY), the largest not-for-profit home health care organization in the United States.
The last position she held with VNSNY was Director of Quality Management Services, developing agency-wide educational programs for Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement. In addition to her extensive home care experience, Yabo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University, a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Education/Nursing from Capella University.
Paul Rice, BBA, CFP
Chief Financial Officer – Visiting Nurses Home Care, VNA of Albany, VNA Foundation
Paul has been in the healthcare field for over 30 years, serving the last 15 years as a Director of Finance. Paul has extensive experience in financial management and analysis, strategic business planning, risk management and a thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry. He has been with the organizations since September 2016.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Siena College in Loudonville. Paul is also a Certified Financial Planner.
Jacqueline Kretser, RN, MSN
Director of Clinical Integration and Care Transitions – VNA of Albany
Jackie oversees the transition of patients to VNA services, ensuring an efficient, effective, and responsive intake process. She also manages our relationship with referral sources and supervises VNA Home Care Coordinators in partner hospitals. In addition, Jackie works with clinical partners and the NYS Delivery System Redesign Incentive Program to integrate VNA services and collaborate on clinical opportunities.
Jackie has extensive leadership and 40 years of home care experience in certified home health care, hospice and community health planning. Jackie began her nursing career as a Public Health Nurse employed by county nursing services. Jackie’s program development experience includes: Telehealth, Palliative care, Transitional Care, Social Day Care, Licensed home care, early intervention and developmental services and the Long Term Home Health Care Program.
Jackie holds a BSN from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and a Masters in Nursing, clinical nurse specialist and parent-child nursing from Russell Sage College.
Seba Varughese, MBA
Director of Human Resources – VNA of Albany
Seba plans, coordinates, and administers all human resource policies and procedures, and oversees HR activities including recruitment, benefits and compensation, employee relations and risk management.
She has more than ten years of experience in the Human Resources field, and has been working with VNA of Albany since 2013.
Seba holds a Bachelors’ degree in Science and a Masters of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Bangalore University. She also holds memberships in the Society for Human Resource Management and the Capital Area Human Resource Association.
Gary Mott, DPT
Director of Corporate Compliance – Visiting Nurses Home Care, VNA of Albany
Gary joined VNA of Albany in February of 2019 and brings several years of home care leadership experience in the areas of clinical management and quality. He is responsible for analyzing and developing policies and processes in order to assure compliance with meeting and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards through compliance with all applicable laws in all actions regarding operation and delivery of services.
Gary has been in the healthcare field for over 20 years as a direct care clinician, clinical manager, and educator. He has developed fall prevention programs, served as Director of Rehabilitation, and regional trainer for educating others in regards to fall prevention. He holds a Doctoral degree in physical therapy from Sage Colleges in Troy.
Edward Meyer, MSN, RN-BC
Director of Quality and Informatics – VNA of Albany
Ed joined VNA of Albany in January 2019. Ed is responsible for leading the development and implementation of quality initiatives to enhance clinical excellence and patient outcomes, providing training related to State and Federal Regulations, directing administration of agency IT systems in order to support business operations, and supporting HR with employee health oversight.
Ed brings an extensive 11 years of nursing experience to VNA of Albany. Ed spent 5 years working at New York-Presbyterian as a staff RN for a Hematology-Oncology unit and as a Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator. Over the last 5 years, Ed has served in various capacities of management in Education, Performance Improvement, and Risk Management.
Ed obtained his Bachelor’s in Nursing from SUNY Binghamton in 2007, his Master’s in Nursing Informatics from New York University in 2013, and completed Fellowship in Clinical Quality via Greater New York Hospital Association in 2018. Additionally, Ed holds a Nursing Certification in Informatics Nursing from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
