Director of Human Resources
VNA Home Health
Progressive and innovative agency, VNA Home Health, with a long-standing history of serving local communities since 1880, is seeking an experienced leader in Human Resources with a diverse background to drive and manage key human resource functions and contribute to achievement of key strategic initiatives. The Director of Human Resources will direct and coordinate all human resource activities and programs for the agency, including but not limited to recruitment, retention, training, compensation, benefits, labor relations, human resource compliance, and employee services. Through regular collaboration with the CEO, this position will guide organizational change and development, and ensure HR practices are aligned with the strategic plan of the agency.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise and experience in all core areas of human resources with experience leading an HR team. The Director of Human Resources will plan, develop, and implement labor relations programs and will be a key point of contact for contract negotiations, agreements, grievances, and arbitration. The Director of Human Resources will collaborate regularly with management and guide teams through effective employee relations and development of staff.
VNA Home Health has implemented a new information system and has expanded to eight additional counties. It is a time of growth, innovation, and system development for VNA. This is a key leadership position in guiding organizational change and transformation.
Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a human resource management role, a minimum of two (2) years in an HR strategic leadership capacity, and five (5) years in a supervisory capacity. PHR, SPHR, or related certification is required. Must have generalist HR experience including recruitment, on-boarding, benefits, HR compliance, and employee relations. Must possess demonstrated labor relations expertise. Must have strong computer and software skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), HRIS, and payroll systems. Must be highly organized, confidential, solution-oriented, open-minded, energetic, self-motivated, accountable, team-player, and have a professional attitude. Candidates must be excellent communicators, both in writing and verbally, with all levels of an organization and vendors.
Preferred Requirements: Master’s degree in HR or Business. Advanced HR compliance knowledge (EEO, NYHRL, ADA, WTPA, etc.). Supervisory training or coaching experience. Knowledge of all employee documentation and recordkeeping requirements. Exceptional technical skills, including use of software applications including HRIS databases.
